Vena’s Fizz House Cherry Lime Rickey

Vena’s Fizz House Cherry Lime Rickey

Vena’s Fizz House opened in Portland, Maine, in the summer of 2013 as a non-alcholic seltzer-based bar. It was named after the owner’s great-grandmother, a member of the Maine Women’s Christian Temperance Movement back in the 1920s, who was “committed to curtailing the liquid sins of the day.”

Although Vena’s Fizz House has since added liquor to the menu, they continue to specialize in seltzer drinks both old and new.
The Cherry Lime Rickey is a true classic, and might even pre-date the Egg Cream. There’s nothing more refreshing on a
hot summer day.

Here’s how the proprietors of Vena’s Fizz House, Johanna & Steve Corman, recommend making it at home:

Cherry Lime Rickey

  • 1 ounce tart cherry juice (they use Trader Joe’s)
  • 1 ounce squeezed lime juice
  • 1.5 ounces simple syurp
  • 3 drops Owl & Whale Cherry Bitters
  • ice, and seltzer

Mix it all up in a 16-ounce mason jar.
