This morning we set the clocks back, and traveled back in time, through nostalgia, and history, and more, at the Hebrew Institute of White Plains (a Modern Orthodox temple north of NYC founded in 1915).
They had a great make-you-own-egg-cream station, complete with pretzel sticks, and seltzer from the one-and-only Walter Backerman, seltzer-man extraordinaire (one of the benefits of talking around NYC – often Alex Gomberg or Walter is invited to cater- so I get fresh siphonated seltzer to drink while I speak!)
I hope the rabbi doesn’t see the contraption we made to project from my computer:

A very successful program …it was amazing to me how many people knew where they had their egg creams. Barry did a wonderful job presenting…I finally found out the difference between club soda and seltzer…today I bought 6 bottles of seltzer….albeit flavored!
