A Night on the Egg Cream at the American Jewish History Society in NYC

Tonight was amazing – and a bit harrowing! It was “Neither Egg, Nor Cream: The Extraordinary Histories of Seltzer and the Egg Cream” at the American Jewish History Society. It was also in a snow-storm – trees were down – not just branches – a block from the Society, traversing and closing down the street. And still, people came, roughly four score!

The event was described as such:

Join us for a NY Premier screening of the short documentary Egg Cream (Peter Miller, 2017) and a celebration of the publication of Seltzertopia: The Extraordinary Story of an Ordinary Drink (Barry Joseph, 2018). Featuring a talk with Peter Miller and Barry Joseph and followed by tastings of competing recipes of the Egg Cream.

Below are some of my favorite photos from the event:

Here’s documentarian Peter Miller (whose film on egg creams was shown tonight) with the milk, moderator Andy Coe with the U-Bets chocolate syrup, and I with the seltzer, mixing an egg cream for our amazing host Shirly Bahar.

When I can, I like taking a SeltzertopiaSelfie with the crowd during the show.
